Inese Jēkabsone has graduated Riga 1st Children’s Music School specialising in violin. She continued her studies in Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary School specialising in viola performance, followed by studies in Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music under professor Arigo Štrāls. In the year 2000 she obtained a Bachelor’s degree, two years later – a Master’s degree.
Inese Jēkabsone has taken part in several chamber music courses in Sweden, Norway, Finland, as well as performing in these countries with string quartets. She has also played the viola in the Riga New Chamber Orchestra in the position of the principal viola, as well as working as the director of the orchestra.
For a short while Inese worked for the Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy as the lector of viola performance. Since 1996 the violist has been teaching viola performance classes in Riga 1st Music School, now Jāzeps Mediņš Riga 1st Music School.
Inese Jēkabsone has been playing with Sinfonietta Rīga since the very beginning – 2006.
