Dārta Svētiņa

Cello

The choice to play cello was Dārta’s first and final, despite her parents and teachers’ initial attempts to convince the girl to choose a smaller instrument because of her slight stature. From 1998 to 2005 Dārta went to Babīte Music School where she was taught by Anita Roze. She continued her education in Emīls Dārziņš Music Highschool, class of Dace Pūce. In 2014, Dārta received her Bachelors degree in Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music under Māris Villerušs, where she is also currently studying for her Masters degree under Diāna Ozoliņa.

In 2012, the young cellist studied in Dresden with Ramon Jaffé, as part of ERASMUS student exchange program.

Currently, Dārta is a member of Sinfonietta Rīga, and in her free time she enjoys playing in several other chamber ensembles and quartets.
