27th International Sacred Music festival will open on the 15th August, where the State Choir "Latvija" and Sinfonietta Riga will perform three gems of Classicism and early Romanticism under conductor Zbigniew Graca: Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s Psalm 42 "Wie der Hirsch schreit", which both the composer himself and his peer and friend Robert Schumann believed to be his best sacred work; and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Krönungsmesse in C-Dur, which is one of the composer’s brightest and most frequently-performed vocal-symphonic works. As the Mozart’s Krönungsmesse performers we will hear the young talented soloists – soprano Elisabad Kereselidze (Georgia), mezzo-soprano Kristīne Matvejeva, tenor Andris Ķipļuks and bass Inmārs Sikle.
And we also will hear the virtuosic brilliance of Inga Šļubovska-Kancēviča’s voice both in the Mendelssohn work, as well as during the concert’s final piece: Mozart’s motet "Exsultate, jubilate", the culmination of which is likened to a jewel which reflects the ethereal elation of Mozart’s music.
