In the beginning there was a score
"In the beginning there was a score - a black and white image - matter without life", says the young German cellist Simone Drescher, describing the creation of her debut album HUMANITY. Life and humanity are the central elements of her album, and although the score is and remains an essential starting point of the music, the listener is greeted with life from the very first notes of the album.
On the October 7 of last year, GWK/ Westphalian Culture Foundation released Simone Dresher's debut album, which was made together with Sinfonietta Rīga String Group under the leadership of conductor Jānis Liepiņš. The sound recording was made in January 2022 at the Riga Reformed Church. The sound engineer - Normunds Šnē.
The album includes Pēteris Vaska's 2nd Cello Concerto "Presence", as well as Pehr Henrik Nordgren's First Cello Concerto and two opuses of great baroque master Johann Sebastian Bach.
