Antti Kortelainen was born 1977 in Kerava (Southern Finland), where he also got his basic education in music. Further he studied the violin in Helsinki Conservatory and Sibelius-Academy becoming Master of Music in 2004, with baroque violin as the other instrument. After a successful career as a bass guitarist in the Finnish army, he joined the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra in Kokkola. In 2009 he moved to Latvia and joined Sinfonietta Riga as its assistant Concertmaster. He also plays the 2. violin in Spīķeru string quartet, and actively participates in recordings and concert programmes with the quartet. In his free time Antti likes cooking and carpentry in the summer house. Even more he enjoys the company of his little son and wife and, as all Finns should, cross-country skiing.
