Signe Šteimane

Second violin

Signe Šteimane began her music studies in the Jelgava Music School and the Emīls Dārziņš Music School, where she studied under Romans Šnē. She continued her education in the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music under Uldis Viesturs Sprūdžs, earning a Master’s degree in 1995.

Signe gained some important insight into the secrets of playing in an orchestra already in her study years by participating in Riga Chamber Players, and Latvian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and she later spent many years in Finland playing in the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Juha Kangas.

Since 2009 Signe has been playing in the second violin group of Sinfonietta Rīga.

In her free time Signe enjoys reading, especially in Finnish, as well as going to theatre.
