Edgars Švembergs learned the basics of music in the Riga 6th Secondary School and Riga 1st Music School with Jānis Ābols. Later he continued improving his trumpet performance in the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary School with Jānis Raslavs. He also studied in the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music under Pēteris Kaldre.

Edgars has played in the Latvian National Armed Forces Military Band and the Orchestra Riga, and at the moment he is already in his 13th season with the Latvian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra.

In addition to his work in orchestras, Edgars has worked as a teacher in the Riga 1st Music School and the Jāzeps Mediņš Music School, that have both now been merged into one institution.

Edgars likes to spend his free time by the nature, and among his fellow musicians he is known to be an avid and skilled sailing enthusiast.
